University of Richmond

Planning Your Program

Richmond offers a minor in Jewish studies. Since students will have an advisor in their major field of study, an advisor in the Jewish Studies Program is not required. However, any students considered the minor should contact the program coordinator to develop an appropriate program of study.

The curriculum is built around a base of religion and history classes focused on Judaism and the Jewish people. Elective courses always relate to Judaism but range from courses in political science to women, gender and sexuality studies and everywhere in between.

Students planning to minor in Jewish Studies should consider whether they would enjoy partnering with a faculty member to conduct undergraduate research in their field of interest. Other experiential learning opportunities include study abroad and internships for Jewish organizations or action groups.
